What a awesome weekend for the broady cats!! Four Grand final wins and a potential 1st grade flag still up for grabs. Well done to the Under 14′s, 17′s, Over 40′s and fourth grade on fantastic wins and commiserations to the under 13′s and 2nd graders who missed out. This weekend will be huge for our club with 1st grade hosting the Grand Final Saturday and Sunday, and with the junior presentation also on Sunday. Please show your support and get down to H&A oval this weekend and enjoy the festivities.
Regards

Sean Fitzsimmons
President BRCC.

Hi, Congratulations to our 2 Grand Final Winners. The U/17 team after scoring 8/161 rolled South Tweed Colts for 83 to secure their victory and the U/14 boys once again came back from the brink of defeat to beat Palm Beach Currumbin – 125 vs 121, recording their second premiership in 2 years as a team. The U/13 White team had a bad day with the bat only managing 70 which was always going to be tough to defend and so it proved with Surfers Paradise Benowa finishing on 3/77. Still a great season for these boys who will have something to prove next season. It’s great to have the victories which are a testament to the talent of the boys and the commitment and skill of their coaches. It’s also pleasing to see the spirit in which we played these games. The boys were great ambassadors for the club.
Final reminder about the prize giving on Sunday. We kick off at 11.10am with the U/10′s and there will be entertainment for the boys and a coffee van for the parents as well as a BBQ and can bar. To top it all off we have the !1st grade playing in their Grand Final at home, can’t get any better than that especially if they win! So stick around and support them.
Glenn

Congratulations to the 4ths, 17’s, 14’s and 40’s for their great seasons and our thoughts are with the 5’s and 2’s & 13’s who fought hard in their GF to fall short against some good opposition.

Well done boys hold your heads high…
1st grade:

A semi final is a daunting game at best because your are so close yet so far….

Well, we have a strong belief in the group at present and this belief gave us the courage and certainty to take the game to MNDCC who finished above us and were coming off a great win the week before.

With the inclement weather etc…we decided to bowl day one and restrict the opposition to a score we felt was gettable with rain around…this was achieved with MNDCC scoring 139 from 40 odd overs with cloud, wind and rain around.

After being 1/11 over night and listening to the rain pour down that evening, I can honestly tell you that sleep in my household was minimal. However, and with many thanks to Run Away Bay for their efforts, we arrived at the ground with clear skies, dry outfield and a group ready for work.

I don’t want to single out to many contributors, but Stains and Fitzy with the ball was excellent followed by a great innings from our keeper Jack O’Keefe who was supported well by Fitzy and Lundy down the bottom.

Looking to next week against South Port, again we focus on our game, quality execution and with our strong disciplines we trust that the game put forward will be exciting and fought till the end.

Go the Cats…..

Shinny/ Moose

Regards,
Moose

If you have shares in Gold Coast weather websites you will have a made a motzza last week as all eyes were on the ever changing forecast and would our kids and seniors get on the paddock for vital finals matches. Luckily the answer was yes and its fair to say we had a very good weekend with just one hicupp being the very proud 2nd grade team falling at the last hurdle. No one can question the commitment and effort of our 2nd grade team who played against the Burleigh clubs first grade team who were just to good on the days. Coxy has done a superb job as we, the match committee really did use 2nd grade this year to learn about players for this season and beyond. 33 players represented the Cats in 2nd grade this season and to come from midfield and win our way into the GF is a very good achievement. The player turn over will hold us in good stead for years to come as we blood the kids with the seniors and keep the pressure on the A graders. Well done guys on a great year.

4th grade under young Captain took Adam Sinclair took all before them to smash Palm Beach in the GF by 115 runs which was good reward for the stalwarts of the club and the couple of youngsters who will have learned from the wiser heads thru the season. Paul Sinclair 97 superb and great support from Hayesy 34 not out and Mark King the pick of the bowlers 4/20. Always good to beat PBC in anything let alone a Grand Final.

The First Grade ventured to Runaway Bay for its do or die Semi v Mudgeeraba and with a draw as a good as a loss. I must say how pleasantly surprised I was at 6am when I walked the ground and found it fit for play after plenty of rain. We won the toss and with the weather against us we decided to do the unthinkable and bowl. FOW – 4, 33, 38, 42 & 51. Five down and a good call to bat, or was it? Tea fell, score 5/114, not good, enter Nathan Stains 2 balls after tea, score 7/114 and all is well again. Mudgee battled to 139, superb bowling from Fitzy, Smeegal and Stainsy with 3 each and Moose stemmed the flow of runs with 1/16 from 11.

We had to face a few overs in the rain and dark on Saturday and went home 1/11 with Jacko and big Tom at the crease, despite some good bowling and some very ordinary weather with rain breaks the lads passed the 139 with a few wickets up the sleeve and were superbly lead by Jack O’Keeffe with 51 and importantly he spent over 30 overs at the crease, great support from Fitzy, Lundy and Smeegal and with Haydos at the crease the Riddler Regan hit the winning runs to cap off a great day.

This week Southport Labrador, never easy but we have the talent and now we know we have the ticker so bring it and …..
Go the Cats
Norm

4th Grade Grand Final was played at Merrimac High vs Palm Beach.

We won the toss (finally) and batted. We got off to a great start with 28 off 2 overs, while Paul made sure he cashed in on loose bowling early. Palmy then tightened their bowling up and got a few lucky wickets though with Paul’s 97 and Haysie’s little cameo we reached a very respectable total of 201.

Our opening bowlers Haysie and Mark bowled tight as usual, with Mark King having a day out with 4/20 off his 7. They were never really in the run chase with wickets constantly falling, and after the 22nd over when they were 6/86 the rains came. At this time they needed to be 143 to be in front so we won comfortably in the end.

Thanks to all for the wonderful year, I was proud to be apart of it.

Adam
